Liz Hewitt, Head of Service, Innovate Services
We were in good company at the awards being in a room full of people dedicated to improving the life chances of children and young people. When we found out we had won, we were ecstatic. We knew our Edge of Care programme was ground-breaking, but to have this validated by other professionals was a big moment for us. We have an extensive team of social workers, multidisciplinary staff and internal Council staff who were instrumental in delivering the work in Enfield. Sharing the news with everyone was really special and has already led to conversations with other local authorities
Nicky Goulder, Founding Chief Executive, Create
Create was incredibly proud to win the Children & Young People Now Young Carers Award. It is testament to the hard work and dedication of all those involved in our extensive programme of projects with young carers, from our project managers and artists, to funders and volunteers. Mostly importantly, it is recognition of the creativity and passion of the young carers themselves, who shape and lead every project; and the carer services with which we partner. Our win has helped us to raise the profile of our work, and project the voices of our young carers. We shared the news in a special blog on our website, and with all our key stakeholders, who in turn shared with their own extensive social media networks. As a result, we have been able to increase our engagement with current partners and have been approached by number of potential new partners and funders. This will help us to continue and expand our vital work with young carers across the UK.
David Parks, Skill Mill Director, The Skill Mill Limited
It was fantastic to be named the winner of CYPN The Partnership Working Award 2019, amongst some great organisations. All of us at The Skill Mill are thrilled to have won such a prestigious award, and delighted with the external recognition for the hard work and dedication which everyone has put in. Most importantly, The Partnership Working Award recognises the efforts of our amazing partners without whom Skill Mill couldn’t make the difference it does to the lives of the children and young people we work with.
Charlotte Cooklin, Improvement Manager, Cafcass
The development of the CPPP within Cafcass arose out of an identified need to provide an intervention model to support families in conflict within the court system. In creating the programme, we drew on individual skills and knowledge, collaborative work with colleagues and departments across the organisation as well as consultation with external partners. Having this in-depth work acknowledged and valued by the CYPN awards has been immensely significant for us both for raising awareness of the programme and installing confidence in those who use the programme in practice. We are extremely proud to have won two awards (Safeguarding and Family Justice) and very grateful to CYPN to have had the opportunity to be publicly recognised for this initiative …….and our trophies stand with pride of place on our front reception desk for all to see!
Quotes collected by Jessica Sherbourne, Mental Health Development Worker, Gloucestershire Young Carers - The Mosquito Mission
“Winning one of the Children and Young People Now awards made me realise that the efforts of young people like me are finally being listened to and taken seriously. It inspired me to keep pushing for change, as hard work pays off in the end.” “Receiving the award has given the mosquitos and young carers the recognition that what they do is worthwhile. It gives me pride and ambition in what I want to achieve personally later in life. The award feels like proof of how hard we have all worked.”
SPONSOR: Judith James, Head of Customer Relations, Halliwell Homes

Halliwell is proud to be a sponsor of such an initiative which promotes, respects and rewards innovation, dedication and best practice.”
